A
warm welcome to Protea Hotel Lesedi - A Cultural Village
Gauteng's
most exciting showcase of African culture. Visitors are
introduced to the art, dancing, history, tribal legend and cuisine
of five
of Southern Africa's tribes. Lesedi is a Sotho word that means
"Light".
"Ke bona Lesedi" (I see the light). Our culture is the
light of our nation.
Whoever walks amongst our culture in Lesedi can also see the light.
Lesedi
is a multi cultural village set amongst the pristine bushveld
and
rocky hills.
Situated
at Lesedi are the four traditional
homestaeds: Xhosa, Zulu, Pedi, Basotho.
They also portray the colourful paintings and
architechture of the Ndebele tribe in our
reception and theatre area.
Activities:
A
traditional welcome by the Cultural Host in the Ndebele
Village.
An audio-visual presentation in the Ndebele theatre depicting
the
colourful history of the migration of the African people with
an
introduction to the five nations.

Cultural Information Session to answer any questions.
Then
onto a guided tour through the four "Umuzis"
(homesteads), followed by the exciting Tribal Dance Display.
The traditional dances of the Zulu, Pedi, Xhosa, Basotho and Ndebele
People. At the end of the Ingoma (Tradtional Dance show) they
will invite you to join in.
A 'Pan African Feast' is served in the Choma Restaurant
- The Greatest African Feast, incorporating ethnic dishes from
South, North and East Africa.
